In a bowl, rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.

Prepare the Catfish
Rinse the catfish fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Cut into manageable pieces if necessary.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Whisk together until evenly combined.

Frying Seafood

Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Coat the Seafood
Dip each shrimp and catfish fillet into the batter, ensuring they are well coated.

Carefully place the coated shrimp and catfish fillets in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes for shrimp and 5-6 minutes for catfish. Remove and drain on paper towels.
