Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Shrimp Coating

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  2. 2

    Dip the Shrimp

In a separate bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk. Dip each shrimp first into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.

  3. 3

    Fry the Shrimp

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the coated shrimp and fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Chicken Strip Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare Chicken Coating

In a bowl, combine flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  2. 5

    Dip the Chicken

In another bowl, beat the egg and mix in the milk. Dip each chicken strip into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.

  3. 6

    Fry the Chicken Strip

In the same oil used for shrimp, heat over medium heat. Add the coated chicken strips and fry for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until cooked through and golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sides Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Fries

Cook the frozen French fries according to package instructions until crispy.

  2. 8

    Prepare Hushpuppies

If using frozen hushpuppies, cook them according to package instructions. If homemade, fry them in the same oil until golden brown.

  3. 9

    Serve with Sauces

Arrange the shrimp, chicken strip, fries, and hushpuppies on a plate. Serve with ketchup, ranch dressing, and cocktail sauce on the side.
