Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Catfish
Rinse the catfish fillet under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
- 2
Prepare the Chicken Strip
If not pre-cooked, season the chicken strip with salt and pepper. Optionally, you can bread it with flour, egg, and breadcrumbs.
Cooking
- 3
Fry the Catfish
Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the seasoned catfish fillet into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Fry the Chicken Strip
In the same hot oil, add the chicken strip and fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Prepare the Fries
In the same oil, fry the fries according to package instructions or until golden and crispy, about 3-5 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
- 6
Fry Hushpuppies
If using pre-made hushpuppies, fry them in the same oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and heated through. If making from scratch, prepare a batter and fry according to recipe instructions.
Serving
- 7
On a large plate, arrange the fried catfish, chicken strip, fries, and hushpuppies. Serve with ketchup, ranch dressing, and tartar sauce on the side.
