Base

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and well incorporated.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold together until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Baking

  1. 5

    Pour Batter

Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  2. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 7

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Topping and Serving

  1. 8

    Prepare Topping

While the base cools, wash the fresh berries and pat them dry. If using strawberries, slice them into quarters.

  2. 9

    Assemble

Once the base is cool, cut it into squares. Top each square with a handful of fresh berries, a sprinkle of powdered sugar, and a dollop of whipped cream.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Phoenix dessert!
