Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, place the beaten egg. Dip each shrimp into the egg, then coat with the flour mixture.

  2. 2

    Fry the Shrimp

In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the coated shrimp in batches. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Remoulade Sauce Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Remoulade

In a bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, hot sauce, and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Po' Boys

Slice the hoagie rolls in half and spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on the inside. Layer with shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and pickles. Finally, add a generous portion of fried shrimp on top.

  2. 5

    Serve

Close the sandwich and serve immediately with extra remoulade on the side.
