Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak (Optional)

If you choose to marinate your steak, combine minced garlic, chopped rosemary or thyme, soy sauce, and lemon juice in a bowl. Add the steak and coat it thoroughly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for enhanced flavor.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade (if used) and pat it dry with paper towels. Rub both sides of the steak with olive oil, then generously season with salt and black pepper.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, about 450°F to 500°F (232°C to 260°C). Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Place the steak on the grill. Grill for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to create grill marks. Flip the steak and grill for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare doneness. Adjust the time according to your desired doneness: 3-4 minutes for rare, 5-6 minutes for medium, and 7-8 minutes for well done.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for about 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
