Main Ingredients

Herb Butter

Method

Preparation of Herb Butter

  1. 1

    Make the Herb Butter

In a mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, chopped parsley, chopped thyme, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

Cooking the Filling

  1. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.

  2. 3

    Sauté the Mushrooms and Garlic

In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the chopped mushrooms and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and have released their moisture.

  3. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and half of the prepared herb butter. Mix until well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bread Bowl

Take the large bread bowl and hollow out the inside, leaving a thick enough wall to hold the filling. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 6

    Fill the Bread Bowl

Spoon the escargot mixture into the hollowed-out bread bowl, ensuring it's packed evenly. Dot the remaining herb butter on top of the filling.

  3. 7

    Bake

Place the filled bread bowl on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the filling is bubbling.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Remove the bread bowl from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Serve warm, allowing guests to scoop out the filling with pieces of the bread.
