Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the macaroni

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Cheese Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Make the roux

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring constantly.

  2. 3

    Add milk

Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 4

    Incorporate cheeses

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded white cheddar and the butternut squash puree until completely melted and combined. Season with salt, black pepper, and nutmeg.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 5

    Combine macaroni and sauce

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce and chopped lobster meat. Mix until well combined.

Breadcrumb Topping Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare breadcrumbs

In a small bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs, olive oil, dried thyme, and dried parsley until the breadcrumbs are evenly coated.

Baking

  1. 7

    Bake the mac 'n cheese

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the mac 'n cheese mixture to a greased baking dish and evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb topping over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.
