Method

For the Hamburger

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

Toast the hamburger buns on the grill or skillet. Place each patty on a bun, top with lettuce, tomato slices (sliced from the whole tomato), ketchup, mustard, and top with the other half of the bun.

For the Fries

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to create fries.

  2. 7

    Season the Fries

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl, add olive oil, salt, and paprika. Toss until the potatoes are evenly coated.

  3. 8

    Bake the Fries

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the seasoned potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.

  4. 9

    Serve

Once cooked, remove the fries from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving alongside the hamburgers.
