Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust with flour to prevent sticking.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a simmering pot of water (double boiler method) or in the microwave, stirring until smooth and fully combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously to avoid cooking the eggs. Add in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Sift the all-purpose flour into the chocolate mixture and gently fold it in using a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. The edges should be set while the center remains soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate to serve.
