Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the black squid ink linguini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the linguini and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Seafood

In a separate large pot or deep skillet, add the mussels and clams. Cover and steam over medium heat until they open up, about 5-7 minutes. Discard any that do not open.

Cooking the Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté Aromatics

In the same pot used to cook the seafood, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 4

    Add Tomatoes and Capers

Stir in the halved cherry tomatoes, capers, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the tomatoes begin to soften.

  3. 5

    Combine with Tomato Sauce

Add the tomato sauce and stir to combine. Let simmer for another 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  4. 6

    Add Seafood and Crabmeat

Gently fold in the steamed mussels, clams, and crabmeat into the sauce, allowing them to warm through for 2-3 minutes.

Finish the Dish

  1. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked black squid ink linguini to the sauce mixture. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired consistency.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and stir in chopped fresh basil. Serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
