Method

Waffle Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then mix in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine and Mix

Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  4. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  5. 5

    Cook the Waffles

Pour enough batter onto the preheated waffle iron to cover the surface. Close the lid and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Strawberry Coulis Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare Strawberries

Wash and hull the fresh strawberries, then place them in a saucepan.

  2. 7

    Cook the Coulis

Add sugar and lemon juice to the strawberries in the saucepan. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries break down and the mixture thickens, about 10-15 minutes.

  3. 8

    Blend the Coulis

Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Blend the mixture in a blender or food processor until smooth. Strain if desired for a smoother texture.

Whipped Chantilly Cream Preparation

  1. 9

    Chill Equipment

Chill your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for about 10 minutes before whipping.

  2. 10

    Whip Cream

In the chilled bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form.

  3. 11

    Store

Transfer the whipped cream to a bowl and refrigerate until ready to use.

Assembly

  1. 12

    Plate the Waffles

Place a waffle on a plate. Top with a generous drizzle of strawberry coulis.

  2. 13

    Add Toppings

Spoon whipped chantilly cream on top of the coulis, add fresh strawberries, and drizzle with Vermont maple syrup.

  3. 14

    Serve

Serve immediately while the waffles are warm, and enjoy your delicious Belgium waffles!
