Prepare Burger Patty
1. Mash Black Beans
In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
2. Combine Ingredients
Add the cooked quinoa, oats, chopped onions, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the mashed beans. Mix until everything is well combined.
3. Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
4. Cook Patties
Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.

Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.
Assemble Burger
7. Toast Buns (Optional)
If desired, toast the whole wheat burger buns on a skillet or in a toaster until golden brown.
8. Layer Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, spread the vegan mayonnaise, then place the cooked patty on top. Add lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, red onion, and pickles.
