Method
Preparing the Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually whisk in the cold sparkling water until the batter is smooth and slightly thick.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or a deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess batter to drip off before carefully placing them into the hot oil.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Fry the onion rings in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Making the Ranch Dressing
- 6
Combine Ingredients
In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, fresh parsley, and milk.
- 7
Mix Well
Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined and the dressing is smooth.
- 8
Chill
Refrigerate the ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
Serving
- 9
Serve
Serve the crispy onion rings hot with the chilled ranch dressing on the side.
