Preparing the Coffee

Brew the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee and allow it to cool slightly.

Sweeten the Coffee
Stir in 1 tablespoon of sugar into the warm espresso until dissolved.
Making the Cream Mixture

Whip the Heavy Cream
In a mixing bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form.

Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In another bowl, combine 16 oz of mascarpone cheese, 3 egg yolks, 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

Combine Creams
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and smooth.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the sweetened espresso, making sure not to soak them.

Layer the Ladyfingers
Arrange a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a serving dish.

Add Cream Layer
Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining cream mixture.
Chilling and Serving

Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Dust with Cocoa Powder
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and add chocolate shavings if desired.
