Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Remove the ribeye steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides generously with kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Drizzle olive oil on both sides and rub it into the meat.

Grilling

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450-500°F (232-260°C). Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  2. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, to achieve a good sear.

  3. 4

    Flip and Continue Cooking

Flip the steak using tongs and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the cooking time according to your preferred doneness.

  4. 5

    Check the Temperature

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should read 130-135°F (54-57°C).

Resting

  1. 6

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Slice the ribeye against the grain and serve immediately. Enjoy your perfectly grilled ribeye steak!
