Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mint

Take the fresh mint leaves and rinse them under cold water to remove any impurities. Pat them dry gently with a kitchen towel.

  2. 2

    Juice the Lemons

Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them, then cut them in half and juice them using a citrus juicer or reamer. You should have about 1 cup of lemon juice.

  3. 3

    Make the Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Mixing

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled sugar syrup with the lemon juice. Add the remaining 3 cups of water and stir well.

  2. 5

    Add Mint

Gently crush the mint leaves with your fingers to release their essential oils and add them to the pitcher. Stir the mixture to infuse the mint flavor.

  3. 6

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve in glasses filled with ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices and mint sprigs if desired.
