Pita Bread
Method
Hummus Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chickpeas
Drain and rinse the canned chickpeas under cold water to remove excess salt and preservatives.
- 2
Blend the Ingredients
In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, ground cumin, salt, and water. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
- 3
Adjust Consistency
If the hummus is too thick, add more water, a tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is achieved.
- 4
Add Flavor
Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning with more salt or lemon juice if needed. Blend again to combine.
- 5
Serve
Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle paprika on top for garnish.
Pita Bread Preparation
- 6
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 7
Prepare the Pita Bread
Cut the pita bread in half if desired, and place on a baking sheet. Brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
- 8
Bake the Pita
Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the pita is warm and slightly crispy.
- 9
Serve
Remove from the oven and serve warm alongside the hummus.
