Gyro Meat

Tzatziki Sauce

Method

Gyro Meat Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb, ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meat Loaf

Shape the mixture into a loaf, about 1-inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meat

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat loaf and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

    Slice the Meat

Once cooked, remove the meat from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing thinly.

Rice Preparation

  1. 5

    Rinse Rice

Rinse the long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

  2. 6

    Cook Rice

In a saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

Salad Preparation

  1. 7

    Prepare Vegetables

In a large bowl, combine the diced cucumber, diced tomato, sliced red onion, and chopped lettuce.

  2. 8

    Dress the Salad

Drizzle with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss gently to combine.

Tzatziki Sauce Preparation

  1. 9

    Combine Ingredients

In a bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, chopped dill, and olive oil.

  2. 10

    Season

Add salt to taste and stir until well combined. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
