Focaccia Ingredients

Method

Focaccia Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a rough dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

After the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Press it out with your fingers to fit the sheet.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped dough with a damp cloth and let it rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  8. 8

    Prepare Topping

Optionally, sprinkle fresh rosemary on top of the dough and drizzle with olive oil. Use your fingers to create dimples in the dough.

  9. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

  10. 10

    Cool and Serve

Let the focaccia cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm with slices of prosciutto crudo.
