Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatballs

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground veal, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.

  3. 3

    Cook the Meatballs

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Marinara Sauce

In the same skillet, add the marinara sauce and bring to a simmer. Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and let simmer for about 10 minutes.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

In a baking dish, layer some of the marinara sauce, then add the meatballs, followed by dollops of aged ricotta on top. Repeat layers if necessary.

  6. 6

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the assembled dish for about 20-25 minutes until bubbly and heated through.

  7. 7

    Serve

Carefully remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
