Prepare the Meatballs
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground veal, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, egg, minced garlic, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs approximately 1.5 inches in diameter.

Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

Assemble the Dish
In a baking dish, layer some of the marinara sauce, then add the meatballs, followed by dollops of aged ricotta on top. Repeat layers if necessary.

Bake
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the assembled dish for about 20-25 minutes until bubbly and heated through.

Serve
Carefully remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then serve hot, garnished with additional basil if desired.
