Filet Mignon Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Take the filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until it's shimmering.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steaks

Add the steaks to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Add Butter and Aromatics

In the last minute of cooking, add butter, crushed garlic cloves, and fresh thyme to the pan. Baste the steaks with the melted butter and aromatics.

  6. 6

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the filet mignon hot, drizzled with the buttery pan juices and garnished with fresh thyme.
