Method

Tart Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Butter

Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Egg Yolk

Stir in the egg yolk and mix until just combined.

  4. 4

    Add Ice Water

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together.

  5. 5

    Chill the Dough

Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  6. 6

    Roll Out the Dough

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). On a floured surface, roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan.

  7. 7

    Bake the Crust

Place the rolled-out dough into the tart pan, trim the edges, and pierce the bottom with a fork. Bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden.

  8. 8

    Cool the Crust

Remove from the oven and let the crust cool completely before adding the filling.

Orange Filling Preparation

  1. 9

    Mix the Filling

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the fresh orange juice, orange zest, granulated sugar, and eggs until well combined.

  2. 10

    Add Cream and Vanilla

Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

  3. 11

    Fill the Tart

Pour the orange filling into the cooled tart crust.

  4. 12

    Bake the Tart

Bake the tart in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly wobbly in the center.

  5. 13

    Cool the Tart

Remove the tart from the oven and allow it to cool completely at room temperature.

Garnishing

  1. 14

    Garnish the Tart

Before serving, dust the top of the tart with powdered sugar and decorate with fresh mint leaves.
