Method

Steak Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Remove the filet mignon steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Sear the Steaks

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  4. 4

    Add Flavor

Flip the steaks and add butter, crushed garlic cloves, and rosemary to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for additional flavor.

  5. 5

    Cook to Desired Doneness

Continue cooking the steaks for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or longer for desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer for best results (130°F for medium-rare).

  6. 6

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the russet potatoes into quarters.

  2. 8

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, and add a teaspoon of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  3. 9

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 10

    Serve

Serve the mashed potatoes alongside the filet mignon.
