Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

1

Boil the Pasta

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 10-12 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.

Making the Sauce

2

Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent.

3

Add Tomatoes

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir to combine. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

4

Incorporate Cream

Reduce the heat to low, then add the heavy cream, stirring continuously until fully combined. Allow the sauce to simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

5

Season the Sauce

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.

Combining

6

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked penne pasta to the creamy tomato sauce, tossing to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.

7

Serve

Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
