Method
Prepare the Patties
Mix Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until all seasonings are evenly distributed. Avoid over-mixing.
Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about ¾ inch thick, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Assemble the Burger
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster.
Layer the Toppings
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Layer with a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato (sliced into rounds), a few slices of onion (thinly sliced), the cooked patty with melted cheese, and 2-3 slices of pickles. Top with the other half of the bun.
