Fried Chicken Ingredients

Method

Fried Chicken Directions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, add the buttermilk and the pieces of chicken. Ensure all pieces are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure accurate temperature.

  4. 4

    Coat the Chicken

Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator. Allow excess buttermilk to drip off, then dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 10-15 minutes on each side or until the chicken is golden brown and has reached an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
