Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, finely chopped onion, egg, salt, and black pepper.

Mix the ingredients until well combined, then form into meatballs about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.

Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, and brown the meatballs on all sides (about 5-7 minutes).

Transfer the browned meatballs to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.

Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar.

Simmer the sauce for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the fresh chopped basil just before serving.

Slice the sub rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking tray.

Place 3 meatballs on each sub roll.

Spoon marinara sauce generously over the meatballs.

Layer pepperoni slices on top of the sauce.

Finally, add slices of mozzarella cheese over the pepperoni.
