Alfredo Sauce
Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 4-6 quarts of water to a rolling boil. Add a pinch of salt to the water.
- 2
Cook Fettuccine
Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the pasta in a colander. Set aside.
Making the Alfredo Sauce
- 4
Melt Butter
In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 5
- 6
Pour in Heavy Cream
Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Allow it to simmer for 3-5 minutes, until it slightly thickens.
- 7
Add Parmesan Cheese
Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until fully melted and combined, creating a creamy sauce.
- 8
Season the Sauce
Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until desired consistency is reached.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
- 9
Mix Pasta with Sauce
Add the cooked fettuccine pasta directly into the Alfredo sauce in the saucepan. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated with the sauce.
- 10
Garnish and Serve
Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley for a fresh touch.
