Method
Breadsticks
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (110°F/43°C), sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- 3
Combine and Knead Dough
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients along with melted butter. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape Breadsticks
After the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long stick, about 6-8 inches long.
- 6
Second Rise
Place the shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes.
- 7
Preheat Oven
While the breadsticks are rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 8
Bake Breadsticks
Once risen, bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- 9
Dipping Sauce
- 10
Serve Marinara Sauce
Pour 6 oz. of marinara sauce into a small serving bowl and set it aside for dipping.
