Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 16 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea Bags

Once the water is boiling, remove it from the heat and add 8 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Remove Tea Bags

After 15 minutes, carefully remove the tea bags from the pot, ensuring not to squeeze them to avoid bitterness.

  4. 4

    Add Sugar

While the tea is still warm, add 1 cup of sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  5. 5

    Cool the Tea

Let the tea cool to room temperature. You can speed this process by placing the pot in a sink filled with cold water.

  6. 6

    Refrigerate

Once the tea is cooled, transfer it to a gallon jug or container and refrigerate until chilled.

Serving

  1. 7

    Prepare to Serve

When ready to serve, pour the chilled tea over ice in glasses.

  2. 8

    Garnish (optional)

If desired, garnish each glass with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves for added flavor.
