Preparation
- 1
Melt the Butter
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it is completely melted and bubbling.
- 2
Make the Roux
Add the all-purpose flour to the melted butter, whisking continuously for about 2-3 minutes until it forms a smooth paste and turns a light golden color.
Cooking the Gravy

Add the Broth
Slowly pour in the turkey or chicken broth while continuing to whisk to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 4
Season the Gravy
Stir in the onion powder, garlic powder, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt (to taste). Continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
