For the Sandwich

Method

For the Sandwich Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Wagyu Beef

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Season the American Wagyu beef with a sprinkle of black pepper. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Rolls

While the beef is resting, slice the French rolls in half. Spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on the inside of each roll.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

Slice the rested Wagyu beef thinly against the grain. Layer the slices of beef onto the bottom halves of the rolls. Top each with two slices of Swiss cheese. Place the top halves of the rolls on each sandwich.

For the Au Jus Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Au Jus

In a medium saucepan, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.

Final Assembly

  1. 5

    Serve

Cut the assembled sandwiches in half and serve with a small bowl of hot Au Jus on the side for dipping.
