Cake Preparation
- 1
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- 2
Mix dry ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- 3
- 4
Combine wet and dry
Gradually add the egg mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 5
Bake the cake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 6
Cool the cake
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Soaking the Cake
- 7
Prepare the milk mixture
In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until smooth.
- 8
- 9
Refrigerate
Cover the cake and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow it to soak up the milk.
Topping the Cake
- 10
Whip the cream
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip until soft peaks form.
- 11
Top the cake
Spread the whipped cream over the soaked cake, smoothing it out evenly. Decorate with fresh berries on top.
- 12
Serve
Slice the cake and serve chilled. Enjoy your delicious Pastel Tres Leches!
