Margarita Base

Hibiscus Infusion

Method

Hibiscus Infusion

  1. 1

    Prepare Hibiscus Extract

In a saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 0.5 cup of dried hibiscus flowers, reduce heat, and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for an additional 15 minutes. Strain the liquid to remove the flowers and set aside the hibiscus extract to cool.

Margarita Preparation

  1. 2

    Mix the Margarita Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine 2 cups of tequila, 1 cup of triple sec, 1 cup of fresh lime juice, and 0.5 cup of simple syrup. Stir well to mix all the ingredients thoroughly.

  2. 3

    Add Hibiscus Extract

Once the hibiscus extract has cooled, add it to the pitcher with the margarita mixture. Stir to combine, adjusting the sweetness if needed by adding more simple syrup if desired.

Serving the Margarita

  1. 4

    Prepare Glasses

On a small plate, add coarse salt. Rub the rim of each glass with a lime wedge and then dip the rim into the salt to coat it.

  2. 5

    Serve

Pour the hibiscus-infused margarita mixture into the prepared glasses filled with ice. Garnish each drink with a lime wedge and a sprinkle of hibiscus flowers for a beautiful presentation.
