Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually whisk in the cold water until the batter is smooth and well combined.
- 3
Prepare for Frying
Heat the oil in a large frying pan or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- 4
Coat the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with bread crumbs.
- 5
Fry the Onion Rings
Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 2-4 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
