Method
Making the Pizza
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
- 4
Shape the Pizza
After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a piece of parchment paper.
- 5
Add Toppings
Slice the fresh mozzarella and tomatoes. Spread the sliced tomatoes evenly over the pizza base, then add the mozzarella slices. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with salt.
- 6
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves. Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
