Prepare the Shrimp
Rinse the Maine shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour mixed with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the buttermilk.

Coat the Shrimp
Dip each shrimp in the flour mixture, then in the egg and buttermilk mixture, and finally coat them with cornmeal.

Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Shrimp
Carefully add the coated shrimp to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Drain and Serve
Remove the fried shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your choice of side.
