Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Mushrooms
Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp cloth. Remove the stems if desired, and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Gradually whisk in the cold water until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat the Mushrooms
Dip each mushroom into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Mushrooms
Carefully place the battered mushrooms into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the deep-fried mushrooms hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch or marinara.
