Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, cover, and let it melt.

  4. 4

    Toast the Buns

While the cheese is melting, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, tomato slices, and onion slices. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by house pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then cover with the top half of the bun.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
