Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onion Rings

Slice the onion into 1/2-inch thick rings and separate them. In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Dip each onion ring in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry the onion rings until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Fried Jalapenos

Slice the jalapenos into rings. In a bowl, mix flour, cornmeal, and salt. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Dip the jalapeno slices in the egg mixture, then coat in the flour mixture. Fry in the same oil used for the onion rings until crispy and golden. Drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. 4

    Form and Cook the Patties

Form the ground beef into two patties. Season with salt and pepper. Grill or pan-fry over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked to your liking. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the hamburger buns lightly. On the bottom bun, place the cheeseburger patty, followed by the crispy bacon, homemade onion rings, fried jalapenos, and a generous drizzle of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
