Method

Making the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add olive oil, salt, and gradually add the flour. Mix until a dough begins to form.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preparing the Filling

  1. 5

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a large rectangle (about 12x18 inches).

  2. 6

    Add Mustard

Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the surface of the dough.

  3. 7

    Add Filling

Layer the sliced ham and cheese evenly over the dough, followed by the chopped parsley.

  4. 8

    Roll the Dough

Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log shape.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 9

    Form Wreath

Shape the rolled dough into a wreath by connecting the ends and pinching to seal. Place on a lined baking sheet.

  2. 10

    Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  3. 11

    Add Topping

Brush the top of the wreath with the beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds over the top.

  4. 12

    Bake Wreath

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. 13

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
