Burger Patties

Bacon

Onion Straws

Toppings

Method

Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Bacon

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon strips until crispy. Remove from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess fat.

Onion Straws

  1. 4

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the large onion into thin rings and soak them in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 6

    Fry the Onion Straws

Heat the oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk, shake off excess, and dredge in the flour mixture. Fry in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  2. 8

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Burger

On each burger bun, layer lettuce, a cheeseburger patty, BBQ sauce, bacon, and onion straws. Top with the other half of the bun.
