Prepare the Glass
Chill a rocks glass by filling it with ice water and setting it aside while you prepare the cocktail.

Mix the Cocktail
In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of First West Rye Whiskey, 0.5 oz of simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

Stir and Chill
Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain into Glass
Discard the ice water from the rocks glass and strain the mixture into the glass over fresh ice.

Garnish
Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink and add it to the glass along with a cherry for garnish.
