Fried Pickles Ingredients

Method

Fried Pickles Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

If using whole pickles, slice them into 1/4 inch thick slabs. Pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Pour the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small amount of batter into it; if it sizzles and bubbles, it’s ready.

  4. 4

    Fry the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
