Directions
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 2
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- 3
Prepare the Cheese Mixture
In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and chopped basil. Mix well.
- 4
Combine with Marinara Sauce
In a separate bowl, mix the cooked ziti with the marinara sauce. Then, fold in the cheese mixture until well combined.
- 5
Assemble the Baked Ziti
In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the ziti mixture. Then layer with the remaining marinara sauce, followed by the rest of the ziti mixture. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- 6
Bake
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 7
Serve
Let the baked ziti cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
