Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to its highest setting (usually around 475-500°F or 245-260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.

  2. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2 equal portions. Roll out each portion into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Spread ½ cup of tomato sauce on each pizza base. Tear the fresh mozzarella and distribute it evenly over the sauce.

  4. 8

    Bake the Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  5. 9

    Add Basil and Drizzle

Remove the pizza from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt to taste.
