Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.

  2. 2

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.

Making the Bolognese Sauce

  1. 3

    Heat Olive Oil

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.

  4. 6

    Brown Ground Beef

Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Wine

Once the beef is browned, add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Stir to combine.

  6. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Season the mixture with dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 9

    Final Seasoning

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve and Garnish

Serve the cooked spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce. Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese.
