Method

Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the frozen French fries to the hot oil in batches, and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt to taste.

Chili Preparation

  1. 4

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Add Vegetables

Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 6

    Combine Ingredients

Add the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans (drained and rinsed), chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  4. 7

    Simmer the Chili

Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Layer Fries and Chili

On a serving platter, place a generous layer of crispy fries. Spoon the chili mixture over the fries evenly.

  2. 9

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the hot chili to allow it to melt.

  3. 10

    Garnish

Top with a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with sliced green onions for garnish.
