Cake Ingredients
For Greasing
Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This ensures that your cakes bake evenly.
- 2
Prepare Ramekins
Grease four ramekins (about 6 oz each) with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Dust the insides with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Set aside.
Making the Batter
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine 170g of dark chocolate and 115g of unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Allow to cool slightly.
- 4
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In another bowl, whisk together 100g of granulated sugar, 2 large eggs, and 2 large egg yolks until the mixture becomes thick and pale.
- 5
Combine Mixtures
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and gently fold until combined. Be careful not to deflate the mixture.
- 6
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in 50g of all-purpose flour and add a pinch of salt. Fold gently until just combined.
- 7
Add Vanilla
Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
Baking
- 8
Fill Ramekins
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.
- 9
Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center should still be soft.
